Santa Cruz, CA native Christian Bauhofer aka Minnesota has been the player to beat throughout 2011 in the dubstep game. Fortunately you can grab his free new EP Astral Projection off his Bandcamp. West Coasters: you can catch him at The Do Lab’s Lightning in a Bottle May 24th (we’ll see you there). We’ve been long time supporters of Christian, hung out with him briefly at SnowGlobe 2011 NYE, and wish him well throughout his summer touring. Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch Dead at 47

11:30 AM PT – MCA’s publicist just released a statement, writing, “It is with great sadness that we confirm that musician, rapper, activist and director Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch … passed away in his native New York City this morning after a near-three-year battle with cancer. He was 47 years old.”

Adam is a legend and force in hiphop/music from our time that wasn’t involved in all the ignorant behaviors/stereotypes either of them displayed.

You Know You Like It | AlunaGeorge

Musical respect and artistic appreciation brought these two Londoners together to create this trip-hop/R&B marvel. Well, there’s that, and the internet. Just under a year ago Aluna Francis and George Reid found each other online and developed the musical child AlunaGeorge (creative, huh?) The combination is both soothing and sexy. The often liberating tracks of this duo reach deep inside as Francis’ sensual vocals are blended with the trip-hop synths of Reid. The two have begun releasing mixes on SoundCloud regularly.

This past week AlunaGeorge released their new EP You Know You Like It [BUY HERE], which will be released on vinyl come June 11th. Just in time for June 12th. Already they have gained quite attraction on the first place they met (that’s right, you guessed it. The internet.)
