Can You Feel It I Sublime With Rome Ft. Wiz Khalifa

There’s nothing better than a perfect combination of past and present. Kanye makes and album with his “Big Brother,” but that’s not the best combo I’ve heard in the past two days.

Although they have changed their name, Sublime With Rome(Who is playing in California Aug. 19-23) is coming out with some classics. Featuring the Eric the bassist and Bud the drummer from the legendary Sublime, Rome has been looking to play with guys similar to them since he started his music career. He now has his chance and he’s taking full advantage of it.

Their new album “Yours Truly” has a similar Sublime album cover artwork and reggae/punk sound. They even have an experimental seven minute dubstep song called “Safe and Sound” that would even make dearly departed former singer Bradley proud. The biggest highlight is a song called “Can You Feel It” with an unexpected guest star.

Wiz Khalifa bridges the old Sublime with the new realm of music. The voice heard everywhere these days raps about what he knows best: rollin fatties and keeping his head in the clouds. He starts slow with the reggae beat then raps his way to the finish with a quick rhymes and sick flows.

The rest of the album sounds a little more poppy and more love songs than we’re used to seeing with the Sublime name, but Rome has said he is trying to distance himself from being Brad and he stands out with this album. I don’t know why it doesn’t have more radio plays and more popularity. Although it’s not classic Sublime, I can’t wait to go to a concert and vibe to some classics; old and new.

Put the Lime in the Coconut and Call it Well Done!

Here to keep L.A. on the map is up n’ coming Young Money member Tyga with the second edition of his mixtape series Well Done. Tyga’s come a long way from his lime & coconut days,  Well Done 2 (finish them) features popular mainstream hip-hop instrumentals covered by traditional T-raw swag. Chris Brown is featured on a song called Snapback Back where the two Los Angeles residents take all the credit for the current snapback trend that has swept across the nation. Tyga has been on fire with his mixtape game gaining followers by the second, I’ve met plenty of loyal Tyga fans who listen only to him and Wiz. If you are into the mixtape game then this is a good headphone knocker, you might get sick of all the “wwwwwwell done”‘s that are constantly repeated throughout the mixtape but thats just true mixtape fashion.

Wobble, Wobble | Curren$y

Far removed from his entrance in the rap world with the 504 Boyz, New Orleans rapper Curren$y is making a second wave in hip hop. Overlooked for many years, Curren$y gained long deserved recognition after appearing on several mixtapes and featured tracks with notable artists like Wiz Khalifa. Last year alone he released popular albums Pilot Talk and Pilot Talk II, exposing his smooth flow and distinctive sound. It is the perfect time to join the Curren$y bandwagon if you have not yet, as he is releasing Weekend At Burnie’s [Pre-order Here] on June 28th. Enjoy some fresh hip hop this evening as you sip your drink. Now won’t you “Wobble, Wobble.” Cause it’s FRIDAY. Listen UP. RABBLE on.

Makes You Feel GOOD | Big Sean

What makes a good hip hop song? Is it the way it makes you bob your head? Or the lyrics that tell a good story? Is it the emcee style that you would never sport, but for some reason envy? Or is it simply the swag that you feel you have every time you hear that particular jam? I think its a little bit of all of that, with a little bit more on top. Some hip hop songs simply just feel good and make you feel cool, and when the track ends it stays on repeat in your head all day. Sean Anderson, aka Big Sean, hails from Detroit, Michigan but seems to represent that fresh feeling that is only found in a rapper born in Los Angeles. Oh, that’s right, he was. After freestyling for Kanye West over four years ago on 102.7 FM, Big Sean has finally been signed to GOOD Music, and with GOOD reason. His first full length album, Finally Famous, hits the stores June 28th. Here’s a track featuring Wiz Khalifa and Chiddy Bang. Listen UP. RABBLE on.

Summertime Jam | YC | Wiz Khalifa

Each and every summer there is an anthem, and each and every spring music critics debate what that track might be. In the beginning the Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff said it best with their “Summertime” barbecue jam. Out in Cali we got to hear all about how “It Was A Good Day” when Ice Cube dropped his South Central LA summertime hit, that the Doggfather himself was sippin’ on “Gin & Juice” too. The Best Coast let us know they know how to party summer after summer, put best when 2Pac dropped instant summertime classic “California Love.” Meanwhile, on the East Coast Biggy Smalls   “Hypnotize[d]” the honeys with his flashy ways, as the Hova simply was “Big Pimpin” on the coast of Trinidad. If you were “In Da Club” with 50 cent that summer, then you know it got “Hot In Herre.” In the summertime the thong, thong, thong, thongs come out and anybody with an attitude can “Drop It Like It’s Hot.” And if you’re one of those that enjoy a good summertime cruise and something rolled up, remember to “Throw Some D’s” on that ride, and live the “Good Life.” As you cruise the town hoping to get at “Every Girl” in the world you get ready to move “On to the Next One.” So fast forward to 2011, and fuck what the critics say I’ve got your summertime anthem. Yung Chris aka YC recently dropped his Got Racks mixtape [DOWNLOAD HERE] and his “Racks on Racks” club banger has been sweeping across the nation. Recently Weezy was caught grindin to it at a New Orleans after party. But what is a summertime jam without Wiz rapping on it. Checkout the remix. Listen UP. RABBLE on. ‘Cause it’s Friday.
