Glitch Mob: The Apple Tree

I came across this video a while ago and never got around to posting it, so here it is just in time for Snowglobe. The Apple Tree is a collection of numerous hard hitting movie clips that match the explosive sounds of three Glitch Mob tracks. The creator of this masterpiece goes by Khameleon808 and if you like what you see click his name to peep the rest of his collection. The Apple Tree is a little lengthy but definitely worth checking out.

Hamster Rock

They’re back. The Hamsters are back; and they brought it harder, better, faster, and stronger in the new Kia Soul ad featuring LMFAO‘s Party Rock Anthem. Even with such a mainstream song, its exciting to see EDM making strides towards more commercial notoriety. Other artists in major ad campaigns include Skrillex (Scary Mosters and Nice Sprites) and The Glitch Mob (Animus Vox) who were both featured in commercials for the HD GoPro.

Big ups to whoever stood up in a Kia marketing board-room and said, “We should make the hamsters shuffle.” Czech it out.

[LOS ANGELES, CA] LIVE REVIEW | The Glitch Mob

The glitch-hop, bass heavy trio, The Glitch Mob took over LA Live on Friday night to cap off their nationwide tour, returning home to their beloved hometown fans at Club Nokia for an intimate and unforgettable performance.  Preceded by artists Photek and fan favorite RJD2, The Glitch brought the sauce, including a duo of hip-hop dancers and an aerialist for added performance value.  Photek began the evening as fans continued to pour in well after the 9pm start time, sticking to low tempo dub-infused tracks with soft female vocals – tracks like remixes of Eleanor Rigsby and Starry Eyed. Photek did his job, giving the audience a sneak peak of the bass heavy tunes that were to come thereafter, while providing a great opening set for the drum & bass crowd to rock out to.  However, the best of the night was yet to come. –  Continue reading after the jump Continue Reading →

A Party to See Marty in Minnesota on the….DeathStar

Far from the reality of Star Wars somewhere galaxies far far away, a duo emerged with a brand new 3 track EP named Ultraviolet Halo that would honestly whoop Luke Skywalker’s ass. They go by the name of DeathStar, the two masterminds behind these melodically inclined filthy beats are Minnesota a Santa Cruz native who you wouldn’t even bother looking twice at if you crossed paths with him in the street. He is the “day-walker” kid with fiery orange hair, a scruffy chin, and a pair of glasses (which probably hide his real eyes from everything but his mixing programs. Yet once night falls, a new creature emerges from the gallows one that is not even visible only audible melodic dub beats can be attributed to this monster and its got all the heads bobbin like that chihuahua in the back of your step-dads 1974 chevy impala. “My goal is to make bass-heavy dubstep/glitch-hop music that will get you dancing, but is not the same old, three-note transformer-step … I try to focus more on the melodic side of dubstep, and hopefully, make quality songwriting a more relevant factor in the genre.” Bauhofer says. (Minnesota). Along with the new collaboration Bauhofer just gave word via Facebook that a new EP labeled Ancient Machine is set to be released sometime next week but if you cant wait that long you can buy it now at Addictech, 3 tracks for $4. The other half of the death star and no I’m not talking about the unfinished half of the Deathstar in Star Wars, I’m talking about MartyParty. MartyParty who also collabs with DJ Ooah a duo know as PANTyRAiD, Ooah  also a member of The Glitch Mob. MartyParty produces a genre of music known as Purple which, “is an electronic music genre, evolving from dubstep, that tells a story in about 2 minutes or less. Every 8 bars a new layer needs to be introduced with the intention of filling all frequencies with music layers until the final 8 bar chorus completely saturates the listener with sound.” (UrbanDictionary). He first began producing music in 2005, “with the mission to change the monotony of electronic music by creating an entirely different electronic sound: more musical, more story telling, and more diversity in the beats.” (MartyParty). Since, he has produced a number of irresistible tracks that take you on a journey through your mind ending in your intestines with the drops that the purple music gives.  As your day continues to unfold into the systematic perception that we call reality I encourage you to try going UP THERE and letting your mind be free as you escape the atmosphere and approach the DeathStar.

Lightning in a Bottle | LIVE

From the loosely formed group of brothers and friends officially referred to as The Do LaB, emerges the return of the festival that the underground LA scenesters know too well as Lightning in a Bottle. Utilizing the natural beauty of SoCal forestry and mountain scenery, this small group of friends began in 2000 bringing a spectacle fed by generators, retro lighting, and old-skool vinyl, coupled with a sense of plur. Now, 10 years later the Do LaB is doing it again with more vitality than ever before. Set in the 100 acre blissful hills and lush forest of Oak Canyon Ranch located in Irvine, California, LIB9 is sure to bring tranquility and good times.

Experience musical performances from artists such as The Album Leaf, Apparat, Glitch Mob, EOTO, Nosaj Thing, Adam Freeland, Emancipator, and many more! Plus, what would a festival be without a bounty of art, yoga, dance performances, organic food markets, and people that simply want to get (sound)tribal!

LEAVE IT BETTER. LEAVE IT BEAUTIFUL.
