Ultra Music Festival Live on YouTube

As if Miami wasn’t already one of the most prime spring break locations, in 2007 it gave birth to the Ultra Music Festival, one of the fastest growing festivals in the world. Don’t feel bad if you can’t make the voyage to Maimi, the good people over at the Ultra Music Festival came up with a creative “game” to announce that UMF will be streaming live on YouTube.

Check out the creative way UMF broke the news to dedicated fans, after the jump:

Resident DJ | Pretty Lights

theRABBLE has paid tribute to Derek Smith many times since its creation, and does not intend to stop anytime soon. At this point we feel pretty comfortable saying that Derek has residency on this blog. From here on out we will simply reference him as his stage name Pretty Lights, and save you, the reader, the trouble of working your way through a description of the background and details of how this artist has unexpectedly established himself as a pioneer in the industry through experimentation and expansion of music sampling as it was once known. Music: A Changing Industry

A new trend has started, one that has replaced the monotonic .fm radio static associated with car stereos and Walkmans with quality and artistic music that we can enjoy everywhere we go. The culture of the world wide web has had a profound effect on the way people are now listening to music, no longer are you forced to hit an Amoeba Record Store for 16 hours to find funky new beats to moonwalk to, with a simple stroke of the keyboard you are able to filter through millions of pages of aspiring artists. Would you like to try a Samples?

SUN:MONX | GLITCH-HOP

[From the SUN:MONX Facebook] “What do you get when the chef throws some multi-cultural, bio dynamic, hybridized harmonic fries into the melting pot? A tasty mash of the most mystic, futuristic, rub-your-tummy-dub delicacy. This is precisely the recipe of the Melbourne based collaborative duo Sun:monx. Consisting entirely of one pinch Opiuo [who is in the middle of a nationwide tour], and one drop Albino, they power through the organic ear ways creating their own unique, melodically balanced, precisely garnished, belly satisfying, hot n chunky meal.” I’m so glad to share this with all of you funk-feins! Opiuo is one of my favorite glitch artists, so it was only necessary that his duo project deserved a highlight on theRABBLE…it’s too groovy! The best I can describe this is… if Emancipator and Pretty Lights had a hip-hop infused/bass heavy/melodic baby. That’s the best I can come up with. For now. If you like what you hear, go grab their FREE EP! I absolutely love this shit. But it’s not for everybody. The songs below are lesser-quality mp3 files, had to make copies because the originals are too big. Do yourself a favor and download the original versions from the link above.

Still Moving | Pretty Lights

It has been two weeks and this music blog still cannot erase the wonderfully executed Lightning In A Bottle from its mind. Mostly we will never forget when Derek Vincent Smith, aka Pretty Lights, decided to take three of the 90s best alternative bands, and mash together one hell of an elegant downtempo b-b-b-banger. This guy outdoes his every last move, and he provides it to us all for free [DOWNLOAD HERE]. It was approximately a year ago that theRABBLE paid tribute to Pretty Lights resulting in this music blog’s most downloaded track of all time “Finally Moving” (pre-copyright infringements). If you still have not taken our word for it and purchased your ticket to witness electronic music artist Derek Smith and his drummer Adam Deitch compliment each other with every drop of the bass, then we have failed to promote this musical experience enough. “All Apologies.” Move in a little bit “Closer” to the sounds projected from your portable laptop, and witness “Everything In It’s Right Place.” Listen UP. RABBLE on. Cause it’s FRIDAY.
