Summer Rejects: New Mixtape | Minnesota

Many eyes were opened along with many festival gates this summer where bass rattled brains and synths brought out the love. The electronic genre has grown exponentially fast in the United States Of America with new tracks being released on the daily and shows selling out in all major cities. One of those artist who has many dub lovers hearts is Minnesota who just concluded a long summer of traveling, Djing, producing, and partying all over the country. He recently just played at Abstract Festival which featured artist Mimosa, Arty, Flying Lotus, Tommy Trash, and more. On his Facebook he noted that he hadn’t released any new tracks to his SoundCloud followers lately, so he decided to give us his summer reject mixtape FREE that is loaded with six fresh tracks to bob your head to until the fuzzy redhead is in your neck of the woods spinning fire.

Here’s a couple tracks on the tape to give a listen:
Speak To Me – Breathe (Minnesota Remix)
Last Jungle (Minnesota Remix)

Rusting Transformers | Minnesota

Minnesota has been on a frenzy this summer as he has gained ever increasing popularity among avid dubstep listeners. Bauhofer offers a unique yet distinguished genre that simply causes you to relax, close your eyes, smile softly, and bob your head to the beat as you are taken on an adventure through a collection of melodic yet heavy basslines. As mentioned in a previous article about DeathStar (Minnesota’s collaboration with MartyParty) July 26 marked the date for the release of Minnesota’s new 3 track EP Ancient Machines on MalLabel. His new tracks were just as I imagined them to be, graceful and punishing, and I cannot wait for the release of the LP which is set to be completed this upcoming fall. A word of advice: do not sit back and wait for this release because the man is dishing out new tracks all the time so find Minnesota through Facebook or Soundcloud and follow him because I can’t keep up with these blog posts! Make sure if you like the music you listen to support the artist and purchase their jams through beatport. UP THERE and rising.

ANCIENT MACHINES EP by Minnesota

Minnesota – Roof Back

A Party to See Marty in Minnesota on the….DeathStar

Far from the reality of Star Wars somewhere galaxies far far away, a duo emerged with a brand new 3 track EP named Ultraviolet Halo that would honestly whoop Luke Skywalker’s ass. They go by the name of DeathStar, the two masterminds behind these melodically inclined filthy beats are Minnesota a Santa Cruz native who you wouldn’t even bother looking twice at if you crossed paths with him in the street. He is the “day-walker” kid with fiery orange hair, a scruffy chin, and a pair of glasses (which probably hide his real eyes from everything but his mixing programs. Yet once night falls, a new creature emerges from the gallows one that is not even visible only audible melodic dub beats can be attributed to this monster and its got all the heads bobbin like that chihuahua in the back of your step-dads 1974 chevy impala. “My goal is to make bass-heavy dubstep/glitch-hop music that will get you dancing, but is not the same old, three-note transformer-step … I try to focus more on the melodic side of dubstep, and hopefully, make quality songwriting a more relevant factor in the genre.” Bauhofer says. (Minnesota). Along with the new collaboration Bauhofer just gave word via Facebook that a new EP labeled Ancient Machine is set to be released sometime next week but if you cant wait that long you can buy it now at Addictech, 3 tracks for $4. The other half of the death star and no I’m not talking about the unfinished half of the Deathstar in Star Wars, I’m talking about MartyParty. MartyParty who also collabs with DJ Ooah a duo know as PANTyRAiD, Ooah  also a member of The Glitch Mob. MartyParty produces a genre of music known as Purple which, “is an electronic music genre, evolving from dubstep, that tells a story in about 2 minutes or less. Every 8 bars a new layer needs to be introduced with the intention of filling all frequencies with music layers until the final 8 bar chorus completely saturates the listener with sound.” (UrbanDictionary). He first began producing music in 2005, “with the mission to change the monotony of electronic music by creating an entirely different electronic sound: more musical, more story telling, and more diversity in the beats.” (MartyParty). Since, he has produced a number of irresistible tracks that take you on a journey through your mind ending in your intestines with the drops that the purple music gives.  As your day continues to unfold into the systematic perception that we call reality I encourage you to try going UP THERE and letting your mind be free as you escape the atmosphere and approach the DeathStar.
