We Like To Moomba Moomba | Steve Aoki | Dillon Francis Remix

Steve Aoki – Earthquakey People (Dillon Francis Remix)

Every other day some young kid finds himself mixed up in the crowd of avid music listeners trying to make a name for themselves as a dj in the increasingly hyped electronic music world. Then everyone once in a while an artist that is unique and passionate enough explodes from the queue and is amplified by fellow artists and music lovers alike. This particular dj has become an exception to the exception, blowing up on the scene after a little over a year into his career he joined Mad Decent with other renown artists such as ZEDS DEAD, Rusko, and Major Lazer. This blog first felt the tremor from Dillon Francis and his Moombahton sound this past summer and we couldn’t be more stoked. We have said it before and we will say it again: keep up whatever you are doing and we will continue to deliver the sounds to the UP THERE community. Enjoy this remix of the international party starter Steve Aoki. Listen UP. RABBLE on.

Back2Back | Dillon Francis + Cory Enemy

Before I could even figure out how to work out the kinks in my first post about this genius round-the-clock producer slaps the world with a free new EP titled Ultra with Francis “mentor” Cory Enemy. Cory Enemy also known as Cory Nitta began his electronic career with Zak Mering a colleague he had met while residing in San Diego, “Living in a small Hollywood apartment, they started making music around the clock.  Hailing from Ridgecrest, Calif., Nitta cites his mother as the primary impetus for his lifelong pursuit of music. Influenced by her love of the harp and guitar, Nitta started with the piano and quickly moved on to the guitar, bass and harp. After playing in a variety of local bands, Nitta left   Ridgecrest in pursuit of broader opportunities to produce and perform music.” (PhililippiansMusic). They produced an EP released in August 2006 as The Philippians titled Goodnite Life which has a completely different vibe blending mellow synths and acoustics sprinkled with spiritually uplifting vocals. Since Nitta has undertaken some new projects dabbling in Moombahton and house. I was utterly surprised when coming across such a relaxing blend of harmony but as I listened to Ultra again similar styles can be connected to the two EP’s. Though harmony does no justice to the genre of Ultra which blends some grime the kind you find between the toes of your overweight high school PE coach who forgot to wear socks. I am extremely excited to have such a positive find when coming across this fresh EP, Cory Enemy, and The Philippians. Lastly, to my boy Dillon Francis, since I saw you at the Proud Bird in LA it seems that I have continued to hear new beats every other day coming from your studio free for download I have no idea how you are able to do it but please whatever you’re doing keep it up.

Killa word of advice: Let your ears wander UP THERE until they stop working.

Moombah Ya Feet | Diplo + Dillon Francis

Since the electronic music scene has so graciously infused itself into American rave culture many new artists have emerged along with new stylistics in the composition of beats that have your body doing things even you didn’t know you could do. As the shuffling continues the variety of electronic genres seems to keep growing whether its Diplo releasing a new beat for Lil Wayne to rhyme on, Steve Aoki mixing so crazily that he convinces his fans to participate in the wall of death, or simply some melodic dubstep beats spun by Mimosa to get the creative thoughts flowin. As I have filtered through various artist attempts at toying with new beats, one has finally hit home, MOOMBAHTON. In layman’s terms this music style takes normal bpm tracks and slows them to give a reggaeton-like rhythm which has everyone and their uncle giggin within the first drop. There have been two standout artists that have taken this genre by the pigtails and whipped it into a revolution when playing sets in front of live audiences, Diplo and Dillon Francis. Both signed to Mad Decent Records the two have been pushin out new Moombahton mixes and tracks non-stop releasing them for fans to download free, I believe this new genre approach will have a big influence on the next Major Lazer album so be on the lookout for some beats that will make you Moombah your ass. Also Mad Decent is doing big things this summer hosting a FREE concert in 4 different locations in the US including one most conviently located in Los Angeles, all you have to do is reserve a spot by RSVP and you’re into the 2011 Block Party to enjoy food, games, and slappin beats. Remember, as our minds and souls continue to float UP THERE remember there will always be new dirty beats to get down to.
