The minimalistic sound and seemingly secret drops from Bonobo has been putting sly grins on my face for a couple weeks now. The UK producer and DJ, Simon Green, has released tons of groovy tunes that seem to mix somewhere between Emancipator and Beats Antique. Green’s tracks use heaps of samples that develop, more often that not, in a linear fashion. If you’ve ever been to a Trance show you know what I’m talking about. The music rarely stops but with the coming and going of bass lines, percussion, and keyboard samples it changes pace keeping up a type of musical story. The newest album, “Black Sands,” is out now, along with a hearty list of USA, Europe, and Australian tour dates that are selling like hotcakes. You can surely find me thrashing this over-grown mop of travelers hair on the dance floor at their (full band) March 8th show in Melbourne. Take a peak at some of these tracks that won’t disappoint.
